Group Work
Curated by Painters Make Better Lovers collective
Group Work is resilience, community, agency, and art making. Rejecting the isolation associated with studio work, each artist in the space tugs at the boundaries of what painting can be beyond the artists’ cubicle. Group Work is a tender reflection on painting in a city threatened by gentrification, corporatization and housing crisis. What does it mean to make painterly work in this city? What sacrifices do we make? We sustain ourselves through solidarity with each other, recognizing our precarity, and painting anyways.
